![]() ~What are authentic warmers and gloves made of? Gloves are made from the same material of the unitard: milliskin. Warmers, however, are knitted from mohair yarn. Mohair is a fabric or yarn made from the long, silky hair of the Angora goat. Most arms warmers have knitted thumb stirrups, and leg warmers are held to the shoes by elastic. Authentic warmers often have elastic sewn directly onto or woven into the yarn at both ends to ensure a snug fit.
~How long should I make my warmers? Be sure to leave enough room for scrunch when making your own warmers if you prefer a bunchy style; plan on at least doubling the length of you warmers. Regardless of whether or not you want scrunchiness, always knit just a tad longer than you think is necessary. Taking your work off the loom and realizing it is an inch too short is the best way to become frustrated and disheartened.
