Warmers and Gloves

Introduction

Warmers compliment and enhance a CATS costume beautifully.  Several characters, such as Cassandra, have no adornment whatsoever, adding to their costumes sleekness.  Others, such as Demeter, Jemima, Bombalurina, wear gloves of varying lengths.  Most, however, wear warmers.  These also vary in length, fuzziness, and scrunchiness depending on the character and production.
What Are My Choices?

1. Store-bought: You cannot purchase knitted warmers in a store, but you can buy warmers made of fabric. Sometimes you may be able to find a knitted warmer stand at a flea market, but these are typically very thick, heavy knits, not at all thin and soft as CATS warmers usually are.

2. Homemade:  If you enjoy knitting or crocheting, making your own warmers is a rewarding experience.  While somewhat time consuming, many people find knitting to be therapeutic.  There are many books and websites dedicated to teaching beginners the skills needed to knit, and Michaels stores in the U.S. sometime hold knitting classes for a small fee, but if you do not have the time to spend on learning, the Knifty Knitter is a wonderful quick-and-easy tool.  If you would prefer to skip knitting altogether, you can create warmers out of felt or faux-fur fabric.

3. Commission:  You may want to commission an experienced costumer who can make a warmers for your costume. Every costumer's knitting style varies, so be sure to ask around and request photographs before committing to a commission.  Commissioned warmers cost anywhere from $20.00 - $60.00 per pair.
